One woman is dead following car crash near LeRoy

Yellow police tape that says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WGLT Police and Fire" is laid on top of that photo.

A LeRoy woman is dead following a Wednesday car crash due to slick roads on U.S. 136 near 2400 East Road in the community southeast of Bloomington-Normal, according to McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder.

Brooke E. Powell, 37, was reportedly driving a sedan that collided with a pick-up truck around 10:18 p.m. That vehicle's driver was transported to a hospital, the coroner said, though she didn't give updates on his condition or injuries. Both drivers are said to have been the only people in the vehicles.

Powell's cause of death, according to the coroner, was multiple injuries caused by the collision.

Roads were reportedly slick with ice at the time of the crash.

Illinois State Police and the coroner are still investigating.
