A 77-year-old Bloomington man drowned at Lake Bloomington on Thursday, according to authorities.
McLean County Sheriff Matt Lane said sheriff’s deputies were called shortly after 3:30 p.m. to the area of 18351 Kickapoo Lane in rural Hudson where a man had fallen into the lake and could not get out. Lane said deputies found the man still in the water and he seemed to be unconscious.
Hudson Fire Department crews pulled him from the water. He was pronounced dead at a hospital at 7:23 p.m.
McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder identified the man as Ernest F. Lamkey. Yoder said preliminary autopsy results show Lamkey died from drowning.
The incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and the McLean County Sheriff’s Office.
