Bloomington Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy and are seeking murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of Illinois Street near Sunnyside Park in west Bloomington shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The shooting victim was taken to Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, where they were pronounced dead at 2:14 p.m.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identified the victim as Darius Floyd, 35, of Bloomington. Based on a preliminary autopsy opinion, Yoder said Floyd died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Toxicology testing is pending.

Police said they took a 17-year-old male from Bloomington into custody without incident and seized two firearms during the operation.

Authorities have not disclosed his name because he is a juvenile.

Bloomington Police are seeking four counts of first-degree murder, unlawful use of weapons, unlawful possession of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of weapons and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm.
