A woman is dead after she crashed her car into a tree and a residence early Tuesday in Bloomington.

Police officers responded to the 4:30 a.m. crash in the 400 block of West Graham Street, a few blocks northwest of downtown, according to a joint news release from the Bloomington Police Department and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

Police said the driver was headed north on Lee Street when the vehicle, for unknown reasons, left the roadway, hit a tree and struck the home before coming to a stop.

Bloomington Fire Department crews extricated the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coroner Kathy Yoder identified the driver as Jessica Wimp, 24, of Bloomington. Yoder said she died of multiple injures in the crash.

Toxicology testing is pending.
