Former McLean County Clerk Jeanette Barrett dies at 99

Jeanette Barrett, a former and longtime McLean County clerk, has died at age 99.

Barrett served as McLean County clerk for 21 years and retired in 1998. She was succeeded as clerk by Peggy Ann Milton. Current Clerk Kathy Michael followed Milton.

Barrett was born in Bloomington. She married Lewis Barrett in February 1948 in Chicago. He passed away in 2014.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert, and all of her siblings, four brothers and six sisters. Three daughters, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren survive her.

Her memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington. Visitation will be for one hour prior to Mass at church.
