The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts will welcome country music stars Trisha Yearwood and Jake Owen to the stage in March.
The announcement followed a three-day lead-up on Facebook, teasing the identities of the artists.
Yearwood, a three-time Grammy winner, will celebrate her new album, The Mirror, with The Mirror Tour: An Intimate Acoustic Evening of Stories.
The album is scheduled for release on Jan. 23. Her show at the BCPA is Thursday, March 19.
Yearwood rose to national attention in 1991 with her debut single, She’s in Love With the Boy, which became a No. 1 hit and established her as a central figure in 1990s country music.
Over her career, she has released multiple platinum and gold albums, recorded a long list of top-charting singles, and collaborated with artists including Garth Brooks, Don Henley and Aaron Neville. Beyond music, she has hosted several television series, authored best-selling cookbooks and launched her own lifestyle brand.
Yearwood’s spring tour will follow her current 12 Days of Christmas tour, with the last show of the year scheduled for Dec. 20.
Jake Owen will follow with his show on Saturday, March 21. Best known for hits like Barefoot Blue Jean Night and Alone With You, Owen has 10 No. 1 singles, gold and platinum records, and more than 2.5 billion U.S. streams.
Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, Dec. 12 at artsblooming.org.
Country concerts have regularly drawn strong attendance for the city-owned Bloomington venue. Yearwood and Owen are among an impressive list of country and Americana artists to perform at BCPA in the past two years—including appearances by Adam Wainwright, Ashley McBryde and Lee Brice—and part of a larger strategy driving audiences toward live events downtown.
That approach appears to be yielding results. Last year's record-breaking numbers have generated momentum at the BCPA, which city staff said brought its highest-ever ticket revenue last month with Theresa Caputo Live! The Experience.
