The City of Bloomington has named Brett Lueschen its new water director. He has been interim director since Ed Andrews, the previous director, left last year and was previously assistant director.

“Brett’s experience, institutional knowledge, and calm, steady approach to leadership make him a strong fit for this role,” said City Manager Jeff Jurgens. “He understands Bloomington’s water system inside and out and has earned the trust of both staff and city leadership.”

Lueschen has spent nearly two decades with the water department. In that time, he has overseen capital projects, operations, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure management.

Lueschen said the department has a strong team.

“I’m committed to supporting our staff while continuing to provide safe, reliable water service for the community now and into the future,” said Lueschen.

Lueschen takes over during a period of drought that has reduced levels in the city reservoirs of Lakes Bloomington and Evergreen. City officials have called for voluntary water conservation measures by residents, hoping to reduce water use by 10%.
