A McLean County judge has sentenced a California man to 20 years in prison after police recovered nearly 80 pounds of cocaine in his box truck during a traffic stop.

Osvaldo Anaya Ramirez, 41, of Oakland, California, pleaded guilty to felony possession of over 900 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver.

Two other charges were dropped in a plea agreement, which Judge Jason Chambers approved.

Anaya Ramirez must serve 75% of the sentence. He was given credit for nearly a year served in custody.

Illinois State Police arrested Anaya Ramirez last August on Interstate 74 near U.S. Route 51 south of Bloomington following a safety inspection that showed the nearly 80 pounds of cocaine in one-kilogram packages.

The drugs had an estimated cash value of $3.6 million.
