The Beach Boys have canceled a scheduled appearance this week in Bloomington.

City officials announced Tuesday that the band's Oct. 9 performance at Grossinger Motors Arena is now off "due to unforeseen circumstances."

"America's band" was originally scheduled to play at the arena on Aug. 13 as part of a summer tour celebrating the 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds.

Mike Love, 85, the only remaining original member who still tours with the band, said they needed time to "recharge," canceling 30 performances and, originally, rescheduling in Bloomington.

In an announcement about the cancellation, the City of Bloomington said ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster or the GMA box office will be contacted via email with information regarding their tickets and refunds.

Ticketmaster refunds are expected to be processed within 5–7 business days.

Ticketholders who purchased through a third-party vender are urged to reach out to the vendor directly for refund details.

Additional questions can be directed to box office staff at 309-434-2777.
