The Bloomington City Council will consider a $4 million summer street resurfacing program at its meeting Monday evening.
Public Works staff indicate larger projects include:
- Fairway Drive from Oakland to north of Empire, reconfiguring the intersection at Fairway and Empire, and adding bicycle lanes connecting to the new Washington Street corridor
- IAA Drive from Vernon to north of Empire
- Jefferson from Lee to Prairie
- Grove from Gridley to Robinson
The lone bidder on the street program is Rowe Construction at $4,010,000. The amount is about $200,000 below staff estimates.
Stark Excavating is the recommended bidder for the city's sidewalk replacement and handicap ramp program at $960,000. McLean County Asphalt Company is in line for $200,000 of work on street, alley, and sidewalk maintenance.
The City Council will also consider spending $870,000 for utility maintenance and another $450,000 for emergency utility repairs. Staff recommended George Gildner, Inc. for that work.
And firefighters could get new working duds. Municipal Emergency Services of Deerfield has bid $282,000 for 100 complete sets of firefighter turnout gear (jacket and pants).
