Bloomington Police say there's no known connection between two shots fired incidents in the last two nights.

Bloomington Police are investigating separate incidents of gunfire in the last two nights, but investigators say they have no evidence of a connection between them.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage in either case and police haven’t made any arrests.

BPD Sgt. Clayton Arnold said there’s nothing to suggest the incidents are a part of any trend.

“That’s always the challenging question to answer,” Arnold said. “You want to set people’s minds at ease, I obviously want to do that.

“I don’t think we have any ongoing threat of public safety or anything like that, but two nights in a row you do have to take notice of that as well.”

Officers were called to the 1900 block of Tracy Drive at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired. Witnesses on the scene told police they heard gunshots after they heard people arguing in an apartment complex parking lot. People were seen fleeing on foot and in vehicles.

Officers said they found spent shell casings at the scene. There were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Bloomington Police were called to the 700 block of West Monroe Street shortly before 11 p.m. Monday for a report of a fight. A group of people dispersed as officers arrived.

Officers were called back to the same area about 20 minutes later for a report of shots fired. Officers found several spent shell casings and a small amount of blood. Arnold said officers weren’t able to determine if the blood stemmed from a fight or the gunshots.

“There was nothing about the blood that certainly indicated one or the other,” Arnold said. “It could have easily been from a fight wound. It wasn’t a copious amount of blood.”

There were no reports of any injuries. Police said they got no cooperation from people they talked to in that area.

Police ask anyone with information about either case to call detective Tim Power at (309) 434-2579 or (309) 820-8888. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous should call McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111. If your call leads to an arrest and indictment, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
