Vasudha Gadhiraju will be leaving the McLean County Regional Planning Commission to become director of innovation and technology for the Town of Normal.
Gadhiraju has served as executive director of the McLean County Regional Planning Commission since 2013. She previously worked for the City of Decatur.
“This presents a wonderful opportunity to help guide the town toward the goals identified in the Comprehensive Plan and allows me to serve this community and have an active role in the town’s future successes," Gadhiraju said in a statement Friday.
Gadhiraju will start her new job in August, with an annual salary of $126,042. She'll take over from retiring Normal IT Director Mindy Dance.
Normal City Manager Pam Reece said Gadhiraju looks forward to implementing some of the goals the planning commission has created in the last six years that are already in the town's comprehensive plan.
"We talk a lot about innovation and smart cities initiatives. There are open data concepts. There are many things happening in regard to citizen engagement in lots of communities around the country," said Reece.
Reece also said Gadhiraju will try to create information partnerships for Normal with the City of Bloomington.
