McLean County Board member Susan Schafer has announced she intends to seek a fourth term on the board next year.
The Republican Schafer has served District 9 on the County Board since she was first elected to a two-year term in 2010. She was re-elected in 2012 and 2016.
District 9 includes parts of southeast and southwest Bloomington.
As chairperson for the County Board’s health committee, Schafer has played a leading role in creating and implementing the county’s mental health action plan.
“I am committed to continuing to advance services and supports for youth and adults with behavioral health needs and to eliminate the stigma for those grappling with mental health issues.”
Schafer said if re-elected, she would continue to focus on the financial and operational performance of the McLean County Nursing Home. The facility in Normal has undergone a series of changes following recommendations from a task force which was formed to address its financial problems.
