Adam Lovell is leaving the McLean County Museum of History after 18 months as its executive director.

The McLean County Museum of History has announced Adam Lovell has resigned as its executive director after only a year and a half on the job.
“Adam has resigned to pursue other opportunities, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said Bob Watkins, president of the museum’s Board of Directors.

Watkins declined WGLT's request for additional comment.

The museum’s executive committee has appointed Greg Koos, previous museum executive director, as its interim executive director. Koos announced his retirement from the museum in 2015after working for the museum for 38 years.

"(With) four years of distance, I have a rather, shall we say, cold eye in looking at things," Koos said. "It gives me a fresh view of things."

Koos added the one aspect of the job that has not changed are the museum's dedicated staff and volunteers.

"The opportunity to spend some time with these people and to work with them was a great reward," he added. "It's a great set of people and it's a real joy to be back with them for a period of time."
