Connect Transit in July plans to install barriers for the drivers on all of their buses. Once all buses have barriers, front-door boarding will resume.

Connect Transit has extended its suspension of fare collection until Aug. 2. The extension includes fixed-route buses and the Connect Mobility paratransit service.

Systemwide, full levels of service are expected to be restored by Aug. 9.

Earlier in the pandemic, Connect Transit limited the number of riders to 10 per bus. That cap has been lifted now that Illinois has entered Phase 4 of the governor’s reopening plan.

Face coverings are required, and passengers should try to stay distant from each other and wash their hands regularly. Connect Transit also asks people who are feeling sick to not ride unless it is necessary.
