Nancy Lou Kiper, 71, of Colfax, passed away at 4:22 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac, surrounded by family.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Colfax Christian Church.
Nancy was born on October 2, 1953, in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Gleason “Red” and Grace Louise (Nice) Durflinger. She married James Roland Kiper on July 5, 1985, in Cooksville, IL. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2019.
Survivors include her son, Travis (Tiffanie) Waterman; grandson, Aiden Waterman; and granddaughter, Kayleigh Perez, all of Lexington, IL; two sisters, Kay (George) Vincent of Valdosta, GA, and Judy (Wesley) Shelander of Rockdale, TX; sister-in-law, Janice Durflinger of Saybrook, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Durflinger.
Nancy dedicated much of her life to helping others in and around Colfax as an EMT with the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association. She also served as the Colfax Village Clerk, retiring in October 2019.
She was a devoted member of the Colfax Christian Church, where she served as the pianist for many years—both for church services and for services at the funeral home—until her health no longer allowed her to play. Nancy was also well known for her exceptional baking; anyone who attended church dinners looked forward to her pies and cheesecakes, which were always in high demand. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
