Carri Gae Scharf, Bloomington

Carri Gae Scharf, 64, of Bloomington, Illinois, peacefully passed away Sunday, April 20th, 2025, surrounded by family, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center.

Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26th, at Historic St. Patrick's Church, Bloomington. Burial will follow at Park Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at Carmody Flynn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to March of Dimes or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Carri was born June 12, 1960, in Devils Lake, North Dakota. The daughter of Michael Meier, Jr. and Delores (Elgean) Johanson. She married her husband, Joseph "Joe" Scharf on June 30, 1984, in Bloomington, Illinois.

Carri is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Scharf; two sons, James (Loren Strange) Scharf and Joshua (Stephanie) Scharf; two daughters, Jacqueline (Patrick) Sprague and Jessica (Brian Bantle) Scharf; five grandchildren, Raelynn (6) & Alivia (4) Scharf, and Joseph (6), Michael (4) & Hannah (1) Sprague; her mother, Delores Johanson; one sister, Conni Meier; two brothers, Darrell Meier and Dennis (Shawn) Meier. Carri was preceded in death by her son, Justin Scharf, and her father.

Side-by-side with her husband Joe, Carri owned and operated Carri Scharf Trucking and Carri Scharf Materials for over 40 years. She was a well-respected woman and leader in the transportation and mining industries. In more recent years, she devoted much of her time to her children and grandchildren, whom she adored, and tending to her beloved cats, dogs and chickens.
