Bloomington Council To Consider Engineering Services, Statement Updates

Bloomington Aldermen will vote on spending $107 thousand on engineering services to look at the costs of installing water supply wells near Lake Bloomington and Evergreen Lake.

Once built, the wells could offset concerns about high nitrate levels in the two water sources and provide new water sources to support an increased population.

The council will also vote on co-sponsoring the Bloomington Criterium next month, which is a bike race featuring local, national and international riders taking place in downtown Bloomington. The event is also the Illinois Criterium State Championship.

On another matter, council members will decide whether they want to change the city's mission, vision and values statements that have been in place since 2010. Alderman Diana Hauman led the effort to update the statements last year, working with other elected officials and city staff.
