Creativity Center Could See $5.2 Million Update
Bloomington Alderman will discuss a plan to use mostly private funds to renovate the Creativity Center, north of the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts, during a committee meeting Monday.
The total funding needed for all of the proposed updates is $5.2 million, but the plan calls for a "phased-in" approach to begin using previously-raised funds right away. Those improvements would include plumbing and mechanical work as well as the creation of a Black Box theater.
Council members will also discuss a proposal to fund sanitary sewer and storm water infrastructure as part of the forthcoming five-year Capital Improvement Plan. That plan calls for $8.6 million in annual spending over the next five years to fund projects such as lining sewers, repairing sewers, and working to eliminate sewers that combine wastewater and storm water.
On another matter, Aldermen will hear a report on the water quality of Bloomington's tap water, which is considered "safe and chemically balanced."
