Therapy service for children will grow in Bloomington-Normal.
Marcfirst has announced plans to move from a 1,000-square-foot space on Hunt Drive to a 4,700-square-foot space on Franklin Avenue on the campus of Advocate BroMenn.
Marcfirst serves children with developmental disabilities.
CEO Brian Wipperman said Thursday the pediatric therapy program will have a sensory gym, motor gym, individual therapy rooms, and group therapy rooms.
“This expansion is so needed in our community. We have amazing therapists and now we will have an amazing space that matches their skills, gifts and talents. We hope to continue being the largest provider of pediatric therapy services in McLean County for years to come,” said Wipperman.
Marcfirst said it will hire more occupational and physical therapists as well as behavioral therapists to meet growing community needs.
In 2017, Marcfirst said it provided therapy to 400 children up to the age of 14. By the end of this fiscal year in the summer, Marcfirst estimated it will have provided service to 700 children.
The therapy program provides early intervention services to children birth to 3 years old. The team also provides occupational, physical, speech, feeding and social-emotional therapies to children up to age 14. When the new pediatric center opens, behavioral therapy services will be available to all children.
The new Pediatric Therapy Center will open this summer.
