The Green Solution in Normal won approval to sell adult use cannabis.

Illinois regulators have approved recreational cannabis sales at the medical cannabis dispensary in Normal.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced Thursday it has granted a permit for The Green Solution, 501 W. Northtown Road, to sell recreational marijuana.

The Green Solution becomes the 51st business in Illinois to receive a permit for recreational cannabis and the 49th “same site” license, meaning it already sells medical marijuana.

The Green Solution may also open a second location to sell recreational pot. A representative for Denver-based Jushi, the company that recently acquired a majority interest in TGS, has expressed interest in locating a second store in Bloomington.

Bloomington, Normaland McLean County have all approved zoning guidelines for marijuana businesses.

A spokesperson for Jushi declined comment, only to say the company hasn't set an opening date for adult-use cannabis.

The IDPFR also announced it has concluded its first round of new applicants, including social equity applicants, who can apply for an additional 75 adult-use cannabis licenses. The state plans to begin issuing those licenses starting in May.
