                        Republican State Rep. Dennis Tipsword, who was first elected in 2022, has announced he will seek a third term representing the 105th House District.

                        During her first term in the state legislature, state Rep. Regan Deering proposed 11 bills and one passed. Within days of taking office, Deering proposed a ban on transgender girls participating in girls sports. Lawmakers never took up the idea.

                        State Rep. Bill Hauter, a Republican from Morton, has announced plans to run for a third term in the heavily Republican district that covers a heavily rural area that includes Bloomington-Normal, Peoria, Decatur and Springfield.

                        Democrat Sharon Chung won reelection to a second term in the Illinois General Assembly with a victory over Republican Desi Anderson. Chung, a Democrat from Bloomington, won 53% of the vote, defeating Anderson by about 3,500 votes, according to unofficial totals compiled by WGLT and WCBU.

                        Regan Deering is poised to replace Dan Caulkins of Decatur, who chose not to seek a fourth term. No Democrats have filed for the seat in the general election.
