The new five-year capital projects blueprint for the Town of Normal includes more than 400 projects and an estimated $157 million in spending. The town council takes up the Community Investment Plan Monday evening.

The largest single category is transportation projects, with nearly $66 million in spending. The second largest area is a catchall for vehicle and equipment needs at more than $29 million. Water distribution is close behind at about $27 million. Then, in order, sewer collection: $16.6 million; facilities, $8.8 million; and the smallest category, parks, $4.4 million.

The plan would be funded from a variety of revenue sources allocated across multiple years. Interactive software on the town website lets people look at the plan by fiscal year, project type, funding source, and project location.
