Illinois State Police said the SUV driver who was hospitalized, Amanda Smith, was ticketed for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Passing in a No Passing Zone.

An Indiana man died in a two-car crash Monday night in rural McLean County, authorities said.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder said Nathan Walloch, 28, of Camby, Indiana, was one of the drivers in the crash involving a car and SUV.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. at U.S. Route 136 and McLean County 150 East Road in Mount Hope Township.

Yoder said Walloch, the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu, died from multiple injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:05 p.m. The driver of a Ford Bronco, 36-year-old Amanda Smith of Atlanta, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries along with a passenger in Smith's vehicle, according to Illinois State Police.

Police said the SUV Smith was driving east on U.S. 136 tried to pass a semi truck trailer in a no passing zone. The SUV hit the westbound vehicle Walloch was driving head on.

State Police said Smith was issued tickets for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and passing in a no passing zone.

The crash remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s office and Illinois State Police.
