Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed on Interstate 55 in west Bloomington on Friday afternoon.

David E. Williams, 58, of Bloomington, was struck by a vehicle around 4:45 p.m. Friday on southbound I-55 near the Market Street exit, authorities said. A preliminary investigation shows Williams ran across the southbound lanes and was struck, Illinois State Police said.

Williams died from multiple blunt traumatic injuries, according to a preliminary autopsy opinion, McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder said in a statement Saturday. Toxicology testing is pending.

This incident remains under investigation by the McLean County coroner’s office and the State Police.
