Bicyclist killed in rural Towanda crash

The McLean County coroner and sheriff say a bicyclist was killed Friday in a crash on a rural road north of Towanda.

According to a news release from coroner Kathy Yoder and sheriff Matt Lane, the crash involving a bicycle and vehicle happened around 12:40 p.m. near 1900 East Road and Candle Ridge Road in Money Creek Township.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name has not been released pending family notification.

The McLean County Sheriff's Office said the road will be closed for several hours as crews clear the scene.

Authorities have not released any additional information. They ask anyone who has information about the crash to call Sgt. Jon Hofmann at (309) 888-5006.
