A longtime public servant in central Illinois will sit out the next election cycle.

Former state Rep. Dan Brady had been looking at either the 17th Congressional District race, or the 88th Illinois House District contest in 2024. The Bloomington-Normal Republican said Friday he won't run for either of those offices.

“My style of public service has been driven by service to my constituents and that has become lost in today’s political rhetoric, where politics by personal destruction has become the norm,” said Brady.

Brady said he'll focus on his Twin City funeral home business.

“Returning to a more active status in the Kibler Brady Ruestman Funeral Home firm has reminded me why I chose the profession, to help people in their time of need,” said Brady.

Brady thanked supporters, donors, friends, former colleagues, and family for their input during his exploration of another campaign.
