A Bloomington man faces reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving charges related to a Dec. 2 crash that killed a woman.
William G. Morris, 21, is accused in the felony charges of driving recklessly at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck another driven by Charlene C. Jones of Bloomington. The McLean County coroner determined that Jones, 57, died from multiple blunt traumatic injuries when her vehicle struck another car and a semi-truck.
The crash occurred at Rivian Motorway and College Avenue in Normal.
In a bond court hearing on Thursday, a prosecutor said Morris was driving at least 100 mph before the crash. Bond was set at $100,000, meaning Morris must post $10,000 to be released. The prosecutor also told a judge that blood samples collected from the defendant indicate THC levels of 10.8 nanograms per milliliter following the crash. THC is the primary active component of cannabis.
A Sept. 1 arraignment is set.
