The coroner said Elkin was taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. Preliminary autopsy findings show Elkin did of multiple injuries sustained in the crash.
The force of the impact pushed the Bloomington man's truck into another truck in front of it. That truck then skidded off the roadway. ISP said the driver, a 70-year-old Sherman man, was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
ISP said the Washington man was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He also was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
