McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identified the crash victim as 49-year-old Julio Antunez of Lincoln.

A 49-year-old man was killed Tuesday in a crash on Interstate 55 near the Interstate 74 merge in southwest Bloomington, officials said. Traffic was being rerouted to Veterans Parkway as a result.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder on Wednesday identified the man as Julio Antunez. A preliminary autopsy indicated Antunez died after multiple blunt force injuries related to the crash. A toxicology test remains pending.

The crash involving two semitrailer trucks and a passenger vehicle happened around 12:30 p.m., City of Bloomington officials said. That led to lane closures on I-55.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) diverted traffic to Veterans Parkway to "minimize disruptions in travel and maintaining the safety of motorists in the area," officials said around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Illinois State Police and the McLean County Coroner's Office continue to investigate the incident.
