One person dead after two-vehicle crash west of Bloomington

The McLean County Coroner's Office has identified the car driver as Jacob Shaw, 27, of Kenosha, Wisc. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash along Interstate 55 west of Bloomington on Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.

The crash involved a parked service vehicle which was hit by another vehicle that went off-road for unknown reasons, causing both vehicles to catch on fire.

The driver of the car that went off-road, 27-year-old Jacob Shaw of Kenosha, Wisc., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder.

The driver of the service vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital for injury treatment, according to ISP.

The crash shut down I-55's southbound lanes for a few hours, though they reopened around 5:47 Tuesday evening.

An investigation of the crash remains ongoing by ISP and the McLean County coroner's office.
