The driver of a car involved in a crash early Thursday near Lincoln that killed a Bloomington man has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and other violations, according to the Illinois State Police.

The incident happened near the intersection of Old Route 66 and 1500th Avenue in Logan County around 2:20 a.m. Preliminary information indicates Sylvester Anderson, 47, of Springfield, was behind the wheel of a 2018 Honda that collided with a 2004 Oldsmobile driven by Krynn Schupbach, 27.

Anderson was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries, while Schupbach was pronounced deceased. An online obituary says Schupbach was a Normal West High School graduate.

In addition to DUI, Anderson was cited for illegal transportation of open alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and driving with an expired license plate.
