Police say they've arrested an 18-year-old on attempted murder charges after a shooting early Wednesday in Normal.
Police were called to the 700 block of Hale Street just south of Kingsley Junior High School at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report that someone had been struck by gunfire inside a residence.
Police say officers located the victim and assisted the Normal Fire Department in treating the victim before they were taken to the hospital. Police say the victim was later transferred to a medical facility outside the area for further treatment. It's unclear how badly they were injured.
At around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Normal Police said they'd made an arrest in the case after a "thorough investigation." Keinon S. Green, 18, of Normal, faces preliminary charges of attempted murder and various weapons charges, police said.
Police said earlier that the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to the community.
A Unit 5 spokesperson said Normal Police informed the school resource officer at Kingsley that there would be a police presence in the area as an investigation was underway and that no action was needed by the school district.
