Authorities said a Bloomington man died Sunday following a house fire.
According to a news joint release from the Bloomington police and fire departments and McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder, the fire broke out shortly before 5:30 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of East Market Street.
Bloomington firefighters said they found one person inside the two-story, single-family residence. Benjamin Duzen, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner said he died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by inhaling smoke and soot from the fire.
The fire department said the home sustained significant fire damage to portions of the structure and extensive smoke and water damage.
Bloomington Police said the incident remains under investigation. The department asks anyone with information to contact detective Brock Merritt at bmerritt@cityblm.org or 309-434-2359.
