Fatal Fire

A woman has died and multiple families are without a residence following a major fire at an apartment complex Friday night in Eureka.

A person has died following a house fire in Delavan Friday night.

McLean County Sheriff Matt Lane said 75-year-old Janice Morris was found inside the residence and efforts to resuscitate her were not successful. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lane.

The state fire marshal initially ruled the cause of the fire in a mobile home park as “undetermined,” but later changed his opinion to “possibly incendiary,” according to fire investigator Terry Brown.

The Bloomington Fire Department said Wednesday the apartment fire at 603 W. Market St. that killed a 62-year-old man Monday night involves suspicious circumstances. Bloomington police have joined the investigation as has the State Fire Marshal's office.
