A 17-year-old male from Bloomington is being charged as an adult with attempted murder following a shooting inside an apartment building last weekend.

Bloomington Police arrested the teen at his home without incident around 3 p.m. Friday, said department spokesperson Bryce Janssen.

Officers were called to the apartment in the 1000 block of Four Seasons Road, near Lincoln Street and Veterans Parkway, around 11:15 p.m. May 9 for a reported shooting.

The victim survived being shot once in the chest and was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center for emergency medical treatment, said McLean County prosecutors.

Court records indicate police recovered a 9-millimeter shell casing from a hallway of the apartment building.

Bloomington Police conducted multiple interviews, including with the suspect. Several people interviewed identified the suspect on surveillance video, said police, adding the teen entered the apartment building shortly before the shooting and hurriedly left soon after.

The suspect, who WGLT is not naming because he is a juvenile, faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a handgun under age 18.

He is being held at the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center.
