Two women have died after a passenger van and an SUV collided Sunday afternoon in rural McLean County.

McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder says the incident happened in rural Cooksville around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois 9 and 2600 East Road, also known as the LeRoy-Lexington Blacktop.

Yoder says the 58-year-old Ellsworth woman who was the driver and sole occupant of the SUV died at the scene, as did an 82-year-old from Millbrae, California, a rear passenger in the van.

Additional occupants of the van were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions were not reported.
The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Illinois State Police.
