Crews work the scene of a fiery crash on Interstate 74 on Wednesday afternoon west of Bloomington.

UPDATED 9:10 a.m. | Interstate 74 between Bloomington and Peoria has reopened following a fiery crash between two semitrailer trucks that killed one of the drivers.

Killed in Wednesday's crash was Jeffrey Bryant, 48, of Danville, said Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman. The other truck driver, Ethan Stauffer, 29, of LeRoy, was transported to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal with non-life-threatening injuries, Illinois State Police said.

State Police say Stauffer's truck was broken down on the shoulder when Bryant's truck tried to pass it around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday. Bryant sideswiped the other truck, and his truck caught fire, police said.

State Police closed both directions of I-74 between Mitsubishi Motorway and Goodfield until 3 a.m. Thursday while crews cleared the scene. Traffic was diverted onto U.S. 150.

The crash remains under investigation.
