Khawaunis Haynes, 20, has been jailed in McLean County on attempted murder and other charges.

BPD said in a news release, members of its street crimes unit and criminal investigations division arrested Khawaunis Haynes, 20, of Bloomington on Tuesday on attempted murder and other charges stemming from the August 13 incident near apartments in the 1700 block of Springfield Road on the city’s southwest side.

Haynes was booked at the McLean County Jail. He faces a $1 million bond. McLean County prosecutors have charged Haynes with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Prosecutors last week charged Dominique Atwater, 26, with seven felony counts in connection with the shooting.

Bloomington Police haven’t released any more information about the case, citing an ongoing investigation. The department asks anyone with information on the case to contact detective Paul Jones at (309) 434-2548.
