UPDATED 7:50 PM | Illinois State Police said 11 people were hospitalized when a semitrailer collided with a charter bus on Interstate 155 in Tazewell County on Monday morning.
State Police trooper Haylie Polistina said in a news release the semi driver struck the rear of the charter bus while traveling northbound on I-155 near the Delavan exit at about 10 a.m. Monday.
Police said the semi driver and 10 the 29 occupants were transportation to various hospitals. Their injuries aren’t considering life threatening.
Police ticketed the driver of the semi, 39-year-old Daniel Fitzgibbons of Dubuque, Iowa with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and aggravated use of an electronic communication device when involved in an accident that causes great bodily harm.
