A 28-year-old man from LeRoy died in a two-vehicle crash on I-74 on Thursday morning.

Illinois State Police say a LeRoy man has died in a crash with a semi-tractor trailer on an icy interstate.According to ISP, the 28-year-old man lost control of the truck he was driving on an icy bridge deck on Interstate 74 near Farmer City in DeWitt County around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. The eastbound truck hit the guardrails on both sides of the road and landed in eastbound traffic.

An oncoming semi then hit the truck’s driver-side door, police said.

The truck driver was taken a nearby hospital, where he later died, police said. Police have not yet released his name pending family notification.

The semi driver, Lucas Bullard, 32, of Rutledge, Tennessee, was not hurt, according to police.

Eastbound I-74 was closed for about 2 ½ hours after the crash, and the westbound lanes were closed for nearly an hour for the police investigation and debris cleanup.
