The Normal Town Council has appointed a Commerce Bank vice president to the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority board.
Nick Moran said he has no particular background in aviation, but has broad experience serving on boards that will help him make the adjustment.
"There's a great amount of collaboration that goes into it, a willingness to agree and disagree for the right reasons," said Moran.
Moran has volunteered with the American Red Cross, Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, the Town of Normal 2040 Visioning Committee, Leadership McLean County and other groups.
Mayor Chris Koos said Moran's challenge will be growing the number of flights to and from the airport off Route 9.
"I think both communities are looking at the issue of air service. That's the primary one; getting more air service into the community, working on more routes possibly, new airlines possibly," said Koos.
Moran replaces Beth Whisman, who resigned from the Airport Authority board when she took a job with the Town of Normal. Moran's term expires April 30, 2022.
