Updated: September 28, 2022 at 4:32 PM CDT
The McLean County Coroner identified the victim as Yesenia Navarrete, 29, of Bloomington.

Bloomington Police say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in downtown Bloomington.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder on Wednesday identified the victim as Yesenia Navarrete, 29, of Bloomington.

Officers said the accident happened around 11 p.m. near Center and Mulberry streets. Navarrete died later at Carle BroMenn Medical Center.

Navarrete's family owns Taqueria El Porton restaurant in Bloomington. The family posted a message to social media on Wednesday asking for the community's love and support.

"Her essence will live on through others. She was an essential pillar within our family, the community and her exit of this world will be hard for everyone who was able to be in her presence," the message said.

Navarrete's family says she donated her organs to save lives.

The accident remains under investigation.
