Bloomington Police have made an arrest stemming from a fatal shooting in November 2021.
Police say detectives went to the Illinois Department of Corrections prison in Jacksonville on Thursday to serve arrest warrants for Osman “Gudda” McLaurin.
McLauren, 26, faces murder and weapons charges in connection with the killing of Geoffrey Rowry, 30, on Nov. 4, 2021. Rowry was shot in the 800 block of East Washington Street. His body was found lying in a courtyard of an apartment complex.
McLaurin was in prison for an unrelated weapons conviction.
The warrants include two counts of murder/intent to kill/injure, one count of murder/strong probability to kill, and two counts of felon in possession of a weapon.
“Our investigative team worked relentlessly over the past two years to bring about this arrest. Bringing justice to the victim and the victim’s family remains our highest priority,” Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington said in a statement.
Police ask anyone who may have information about the case to contact detective Kevin Raisbeck at (309) 434-2593 or kraisbesk@cityblm.org. The public also can send anonymous tips by texting BPDTIPS to 847411.
Police said McLaurin's bond has been set at $4 million.
