Illinois State Police and the McLean County Coroner say a 71-year-old woman died Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision on U.S. 150 near Downs.
McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder said in a news release the accident happened on U.S. 150 near N 2000 East Road.
The name of the woman who died has not yet been released.
State police said the woman was traveling west when the driver of a second vehicle crossed the center line of U.S. 150 into the westbound lane.
Troopers said that driver attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was taken into custody and then sent to a hospital.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday.
