Mariah Kletz was a student at Normal West.

Bloomington Police now call the death of a 16-year-girl earlier this month a homicide investigation.

Mariah Kletz was pronounced dead Feb. 7 after police and paramedics were called to a manufactured home on Canada Lane in southwest Bloomington for a reported cardiac arrest.

Authorities have released very little about the circumstances around Kletz's death, including a cause of death. Police say the preliminary investigation indicates this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

Kletz was a student at Normal West with a deep love for animals and a desire to one day become a CEO, according to her obituary.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the case to contact Detective Ryan Strebing at 309-434-2537 or rstrebing@cityblm.org.
