A LeRoy man and former university police officer has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Jerald Sandage, 55, has been convicted by a Champaign County jury on two counts of criminal sexual assault.

Prosecutors said Sandage used his access to police records at the University of Illinois to stalk, drug and sexually assault as many as four women.

In an email to WGLT, Champaign County Judge Roger B. Webber confirmed Sandage was issued a 12.5 year sentence on each count, to be served consecutively. He receives over six years [2,243 days] credit for presentence time served in jail. Sandage is required to serve at lest 85% of his sentence, making him first eligible for release in 2041.

Sandage was previously convicted for official misconduct and was serving prison time when that case was overturned on appeal.

Sandage is waiting to be retried in the lower court on that case.
