A 45-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Woodford County early Wednesday.

UPDATED: Woodford County authorities have released the name of the woman who was killed in a head-on collision near Minonk early Wednesday.

The Woodford County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Melanie Schubert, 45, of Washburn, was rushed to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington where she was pronounced dead.

Schubert died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to preliminary autopsy findings.

Police said Schubert was driving westbound on Woodford County Highway 2 at about 7 a.m. Wednesday when she collided with another vehicle that was headed eastbound.

Police said Marshall County Ambulance personnel took the other driver to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Her condition is not available.

The McLean County Coroner’s Office is assisting Woodford County authorities in the investigation.

Woodford County Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword said slick roads caused by freezing drizzle may have contributed to the crash.
