The Bloomington Fire Department is urging drivers to slow down and move over near crash scenes after a firefighter was struck Thursday by a hit-and-run vehicle at the scene of an earlier crash.

The McLean County Regional Planning Commission set out to study Veterans Parkway over a year ago. Recommendations in the final plan include ways to make the road safer, including lowering the speed limit.

Eight select locations will see temporary measures implemented starting Sept. 3. These measures could help to calm traffic, improve crossing safety and limit accidents.
