Second Pedestrian Killed On Veterans Parkway In Six Weeks

Veterans Parkway between Shepard and Fort Jesse Roads closed for several hours for investigation.

A person died at the intersection of Fort Jesse Road and Veterans Parkway in Normal on Wednesday evening.

Normal Police said a single northbound car hit a pedestrian about 8:30 p.m. as the person crossed Veterans Parkway.

Police and the McLean County coroner are investigating and have not yet released the name of the person killed.

Police closed Veterans between Fort Jesse and Shepard Road for several hours as accident reconstruction investigators worked at the scene.

The police department also asked for anyone who saw the accident to call them with details.

This is the second pedestrian fatality in six weeks on Veterans Parkway. 

Reginald Hubbert, 18, was struck by an SUV in late September while walking near Veterans and Empire. He died Sept. 30, several days after the crash. when he was removed from life support.
